Jill Hellman

Jill Hellman is an artist, psychotherapist, writer, dancer, mother, and recent breast cancer survivor. Her mixed media paintings express the beauty, power and mystery of the human experience, as well as the challenges and triumphs of her own personal journey.

Growing up in an artistic and intellectual family, she had many creative influences, including arts and culture from around the world, which influenced her art practice and eventually led to a BA and MA in Anthropology from The University of Michigan and New York University. Jill provided curatorial and exhibition expertise for two natural history museums and managed an art gallery in Los Angeles. A 15 year career followed as a development director in NYC during which she raised money for two hospitals, a university, and a dance company.

Always fascinated by the unconscious and with a desire to help people directly, Jill left corporate life and answered a lifelong calling to become a psychotherapist. She now has a private practice in Teaneck, New Jersey.

While raising her daughter as a single mother she returned to studying and creating art with renewed vigor. Now an artist and a therapist, her rich life experiences intermingle to offer a unique exploration of transformation, healing, and the strength of the human spirit.

 Jill received training at The Art Student’s League, Rockland County School of the Arts, the Art School at Old Church and the Art2Life Creative Visionary Path Program. She attends painting workshops with her teachers and mentors in locations around the world whenever possible.

Jill began showing her work in a 2013 juried show of small works at The Art School at Old Church, Demarest, NJ, and continued in the Collage Collective Group, Cottage Place Gallery, Unitarian Society of Ridgewood, NJ; and "Meet the Artists," Leonia, NJ;
